How MTN Nigeria received 20 awards in one week

MTN Nigeria seized awards season by the scruff, winning with style at some of the most prestigious honour ceremonies in the country.

The awards, from four reputable Nigerian organizations, are a confirmation of MTN’s commitment to empowering Nigerians through services, products, and interventions that deliver first-class value for everyone.

Recognised with six awards at the 2021 edition of the prestigious Nigeria Tech Innovation and Telecom Awards (NTITA), the company won honours in customer experience, service provision and social impact. The company’s all-encompassing footprint mirrored the strides of the company in terms of customer satisfaction.

The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, Karl Olutokun Toriola, also walked away with the Technology Person of the Year award.

When discussing creative expertise, few brands can boast of possessing the often trivialised penchant for connecting with Nigerians using media campaigns that sift through to the hearts and inspire Nigeria’s collective. Getting vocal artists, filmmakers and media creatives to collaborate to deliver a tentative message that the populace can identify with is not an easy feat. However, MTN does not miss when it comes to connecting Nigerians on all fronts.

The company’s ‘We Move’ campaign was a visceral tribute to the shared attribute of tenacity and ingenuity of Nigerians who strive tirelessly to pursue entrepreneurial success. It was no surprise that the commercial was a favourite among Nigerians in 2021, many of which clearly stated that it was downright inspiring.

As a result of the resounding success of the campaign, MTN Nigeria bagged the Campaign of the Year award at the most celebrated awards ceremony in the Marketing and Communications Industry, the ADVAN Awards for Marketing Excellence (West Africa). MTN Nigeria also had a podium finish for the brand of the Year category at the prestigious event.

Also, in recognition of MTN Nigeria’s brand visibility and loyalty, the prestigious Brandcom Awards recognised MTN Nigeria with the Brand Leadership Award in Telecom and the Most Outstanding Telecom Brand of the Year (Voice) awards.

Rounding off the weekend (yes, this happened in the span of a weekend), MTN Pulse, as well as the ‘We Move’ and ‘Who Dey Call’ campaigns won a total of 10 awards at Lagos Advertising And Ideas Festival (LAIF), the Lagos awards ceremony widely recognised as West-Africa’s biggest celebration of creativity.

MTN’s strong showing in awards season this year reflects the tireless dedication and attentiveness the brand pays to its operations in the country and is nothing short of deserved.
