‘I have not stepped down for Jimi Agbaje’ -Deji Doherty

PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant for Lagos State, Engineer Adedeji Doherty has discredited the tale that he has given up his ambition by stepping down for another party top shot, Jimi Agbaje.  He stated emphatically that it’s nothing but a mere figment of people’s imagination outside the party.

He, however, urged the public to disregard the tale as there is no iota of truth in it.

Speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Saturday, October 25, 2014, on the issue, the engineer cum politician expressed dissatisfaction over the tale, labeling those sponsoring it as ill-fated elements who are only after the collapse of the party in Lagos State.

“Forget about that. It’s absolutely zero.  There is nothing like that in Lagos PDP.  It’s rubbish.  Do you also believe that?  Those peddling that rumour are ill-fated, and what they are after is the collapse of the party so that they can have their way.  I don’t think such people are within our party.  They are just imagining things from afar.  They are practically incorrect.

“We’re all going round to get supporters ready for the primary election coming up on Saturday, November 29, 2014.  I have been busy for some days going from one local government to the other.  If I had stepped down for Jimi Agbaje, why do I need to move around soliciting support for my aspiration?

“I am still in the race, and come November 29, 2014, by the special grace of God, I will emerge victorious at the primary election.  And that automatically qualifies me to fly the flag of the party in the 2015 gubernatorial election in Lagos State.  So, the issue of me stepping down for Jimi Agbaje or whoever is nothing but rubbish and should be disregarded in its entirety.”
