‘I will forever appreciate God’ – Mosun Filani-Oduoye

For top actress, Mosun Filani-Oduoye, Saturday, July 5 was her birthday but July 16, 2016, would for a long time remain special to her. It was the day top faces in the Osun state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gathered to felicitate with her on her birthday.

Inspite of the intention of the organizers to make it a low-key affair with only a few friends in attendance, top faces in the party eventually turned up.

ENCOMIUM Weekly was informed by an inside source that Mosun and her husband, Kayode Oduoye had visited the orphanage at St.Fatima Hospital, Jolayemi area of Osogbo, Osun State where materials, foodstuffs and cash were delivered to the home.

It was also the day chosen by the beautiful thespian for a get together to mark her birthday. According to the source, dignitaries began to arrive the Oshogbo Holiday-Inn, venue of the event as early as 3pm. Chairman, Osun state PDP, Hon. Soji Adagunodo and his predecessor, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa were among those who arrived early. The hall however got electrified with the arrival of the birthday gal, Mosun Filani-Oduoye with her husband, Barrister Kayode Oduoye.

In a chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Sunday, July 17, 2016, Mosun, who expressed appreciation to God for the divine support she has enjoyed was quite emphatic in her submission that there is nothing  anyone can offer to God other than appreciation.

‘I’m ever grateful to Almighty God for His Mercies and support and for a discerning mind. Anyone who knows and appreciates the mortal nature of humans, you must definitely appreciate God, the Creator and Controller of the universe, I thank Him for keeping me alive and for His protection and Mercies’.

Asked why she is marking her birthday almost a week after she added a year, the mother of two children said all plans had been concluded to mark it on July 5, but exigencies got the event pushed to the day it eventually held.

Speaking on what birthday meant to her, the actress submitted that it is a day one should express more thanks to God and also create time to touch lives.

‘Ordinarily, anybody who recognizes the fact that he or she was created by God and merely sent to the world for a purpose and for a specified period that is only known to God, showing gratitude to God should be continous either by words or through good deeds, but one should express more thanks on his/her birthday. It is a day one should review his/her activities, identify areas of improvement and particularly touching lives. That was why the first thing we did was to go to an orphanage and made donations and also interact with the children there and make them happy’.

While commenting on how she has successfully combined her role as an actress and as a mother, Filani attributed it to divine support and the support of her husband.

‘Yes, it is quite tasking combining two attention demanding and energy sapping roles but I must say I have enjoyed heavenly support and there is no cause for alarm. I am in charge of the home front and I ensure my husband returns to a stable domestic atmosphere as he pursues his business and political aspirations. Don’t forget one must also embark on regular devotional exercise for the whole family while the oga is busy out there’.

Dignitaries at the birthday include Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, Hon. Soji Adagunodo, Hon. Remi Arogundade, Hon. Sunday Bisi, Osogbo Big Boy Segun Abija, PDP state woman leader, Hon. Bimbo Adunola, Ibukun Oloka, Adekunle Adekola and others.
