Kano State receives Free Medical Services through the Y’ello Doctor Initiative

Kano State government has lauded telecommunication giant, MTN Nigeria, for its various interventions in the healthcare sector of the state.

MTN through its Foundation, on 17, January 2022, officially handed over one of the six ultra-modern mobile medical vehicles to the Kano State Government, to provide access to primary healthcare services for communities and markets in Kano state.

Women and Children especially, those living within rural and semi-urban communities in Kano state, will receive free medical services including health awareness creation, screening, diagnoses, consultations, treatment, provisions of drugs, referrals, health outreaches and awareness creation, courtesy of the MTN Foundations Y’ello Doctor initiative.

MTN Sales and Distribution Manager Kano state, Mr Hamza Ibrahim said MTN Nigeria was highly delighted to partner with the Kano State government in ensuring that underserved communities were medically attended to.

This phase of the initiative would be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership model and would involve medical outreaches to markets and under-served communities to support the Kano State Government efforts in improving the wellbeing of its residents” he stated.

Hajia Amina Musa, Permanent Secretary, Kano State Ministry of Health, in her remark at the handover ceremony said, “We are happy that Kano state is among the beneficiaries of the third phase of the Y’ello Doctor initiative, and this intervention would go a long way in supporting the healthcare delivery system of the state. The intervention is also in-line with the vision and programs of the administration in bringing health care services to underserved communities through various medical and surgical outreach programs”

The Y’ello Doctor intervention since 2014, has impacted over 650,000 people and over 100 communities that have been provided with access to free healthcare.
