Labour kicks against Mimiko’s bid to host LP convention

The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, have kicked against the reported plan by the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, to host the Labour Party’s convention in Akure on Saturday,October 11,2014.

The leadership of the labour unions argue that it is wrong for Mimiko to preside over the party’s convention after his defection to the PDP last week.

“Our major concern is that a governor who has already defected to another party is now the one who is sponsoring, who is hosting and supervising the convention of an independent party like Labour Party.”

NLC president, Mr. Abdulwaheed Omar and his counterpart from the TUC, Mr. Bala Kaigama, urged members of the union to stay away from the convention as the organisers might have an ulterior motive.
