LASG to celebrate 2019 Tree Planting Day

The Lagos State Government has concluded plans to celebrate the 2019 Tree Planting Day across the State, imploring citizens to join the campaign in their respective localities.

The charge was contained in a statement issued by the General Manager of Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, inviting the general public to the yearly sensitisation exercise. 
According to her, this year’s tree planting sensitisation campaign with the theme ‘Clean and Green is our Perfect Dream’ is designed to accentuate the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of the State Government which plays significant emphases on improving citizen’s health and creating a sustainable environment.

She revealed that the event, which is billed for Sunday, 14th July 2019, will take place simultaneously across the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas with eight venues designated as ceremonial sites.
“His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be performing his first official tree planting as the Governor of the State at Bisola Durosimi-Etti, off Admiralty Way, Lekki Lagos, while his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat will be planting at Costain Ram Market, by Nigeria Breweries, Costain Lagos’’, she disclosed.

The General Manager added that the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Jaji will be giving back to nature at Bariga Jetty, Ilaje, Bariga Lagos; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rtd. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa will be at Chief Joe Ikebudu Street, Ilapo Estate Back of Alagbado Police Station, Mosan Okunola, Lagos.

“The first Lady of the State, Mrs. Ibironke Sanwo-Olu and the Acting Chief Judge of the State, Justice Kazeem Alogba will be at Oregun Recreational Park, Oregun Link Road, off Kudirat Abiola Road and Yaba Magistrate Court, Yaba, Lagos respectively”, she said.

Other ceremonial sites according to her include; Isheri Grammar School, Grammar School Bus-Stop, Ojodu, Lagos where Non-Governmental Organisations will be planting trees and Anthony Enahoro Estate, WEMCO Road, Ogba, Lagos where Lagos State Office of Disability Affairs (LASODA) is expected to plant trees.
She urged all citizens to be committed to the greening revolution by supporting the State Government to plant trees in their different locations.
