More trouble for OMISORE as Senator ADELEKE romances APC, ‘He is still with us’ – Omisore

THE dream of Senator Iyiola Omisore, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) guber candidate to win the forthcoming governorship election in Osun, the Home of the Living Spring has suffered another major setback, if the information at ENCOMIUM Weekly’s disposal is anything to go by.

According to information, apart from some PDP top shots who were said to have vowed not to work for the success of the Ife, Osun born politician in the Saturday, August 9, 2014 gubernatorial election in the state, on account of the controversial primary election that produced him as the party’s flag-bearer, another power broker in the party, Senator Isiaka Adeleke who was also aggrieved with the process that gave Omisore the governorship ticket, has pitched his tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Isiaka-AdelekeThis, we learnt, has caused serious confusion within the party.  The Ede, Osun born politician was said to have taken the decision after all his pleas to conduct a fresh gubernatorial primary election fell on the deaf ears of the party leadership.

Although, a reliable source told ENCOMIUM Weekly that Serubawon, as Adeleke is fondly addressed, has decided not to make any public pronouncement on the new development for security reasons, he is said to be attending secret meetings with APC bigwigs in the state, including the incumbent governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.  Not only that, he is also rumoured to have started mobilizing his loyalists in support of APC in the forthcoming guber poll.

“I don’t think there is anything for PDP again in Osun State.  I think Omisore should just forget his ambition to govern the state.  There is no way he can defeat Aregbesola in the Saturday, August 9, 2014 gubernatorial election. I learnt some PDP leaders in the state are still not in good terms with him.  They have all vowed to withdraw their support during the election.  But the most obvious one now, is the pulling out of Senator Isiaka Adeleke.  I learnt the man has declared secretly for APC but PDP leaders in the state are only pretending not to know.  I learnt Adeleke has also stopped attending PDP Council of Elders Forum in the state.  He is still very bitter the way Omisore’s loyalists manhandled him few days to the party’s primary election which informed his withdrawal from the race.

“The way things are going, I learnt he is likely not to have left alone.  Ex-governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola may have moved with him because they are both friends and also aggrieved about the party at the moment. I even learnt Aregbesola visited Oyinlola in his hometown, Okuku, during Easter period.  And they both held a closed door meeting which lasted hours.  I learnt it’s all about Saturday, August 9, 2014 election.  So, with the situation of things right now, it will be very difficult for Omisore to win, even in his senatorial district, let alone other areas in the state. He is likely to be left alone, unless urgent steps are taken to address the internal wrangling rocking PDP.”

An All Progressives Congress faithful who spoke to ENCOMIUM Weekly anonymously said, “Every right thinking Osun indigene, by now, should know where Senator Adeleke belongs.  He is no longer in PDP. He s now with us in APC.  And he has attended quite a number of meetings with the party hierarchy.  Adeleke is now a progressive, not a reactionary politician.  Although, I learnt he has issued an official statement, denying romancing APC.  That’s expected, it’s just a gimmick.  He did that for security reason.  Let’s wait and see what will happen on August 9, 2014.”

Reacting to the development, via his Director of Publicity, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, Omisore said, “It’s a lie, Senator Isiaka Adeleke is still in PDP.  Although, there was an issue, it has been settled since.  It’s APC agenda, trying to misinform the public that Senator Adeleke has defected to APC.  They also said, Olagunsoye Oyinlola too has joined APC. They even claimed both of them would make a public declaration yesterday, Saturday, May 17, 2014, and nothing like that happened.

“I am telling you authoritatively that both Adeleke and Oyinlola are still with us.  It’s just a kind of political tactics APC is using, which cannot work.”

Asked if there is any assurance of Senator Omisore emerging victorious in the Saturday, August 9, 2014 governorship election going by the alleged polarization in PDP, he reacted, “I told you, there is no crisis in PDP again.  We’re all working together for the success of our great party in upcoming election. By the special grace of God, Aregbesola will be disgraced out of office.  PDP will surely get its power back this year.”
