Most expensive private universities 2015/2016 session

For you to send your child to the university now costs a fortune. Moreover, it’s a privilege to have your child in a private university as you have to cough out as much N3 million per year. The advent of missionary schools has not even helped matters.

 

AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA (ABTI)

ABTI is the first Nigerian university with an American structure and curriculum. It is in North Eastern Nigeria, Yola, Adamawa state. At ABTI, students pay as much as about N3,285,000 to receive quality education.

 

For tuition: N1,540,000 per annum

Plan for 7 meals: N250,000(per annum)

Plan for 14 meals: N350,000(per annum)

Plan for 21 meals: N450,000(per annum)

 

Housing plan:

Triple room without facilities: N360,000 (per annum)

Double room without facilities: N456,000 (per annum)

Triple room with facilities: N500,000(per annum)

Double room with facilities: N650,000(per annum)

 

Other fees: Housing, damage deposit (New students):N30,000

Health fee: N10,000

Technology fee: N70,000

Student activities: N60,000

E-books: N90,000

 

BABCOCK UNIVERSITY

This is a private Christian co-educational university owned and operated by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Nigeria. The university was established by the Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) in 1957.

The school fee ranges from N620,000 to N3million. In Babcock University, your meal and hostel defines your fee. It offers two or three daily services for two meal option: 94,300 three meal options: N141,450

And also the accommodation are divided into three hostels and each with their various prices.

  1. Regular accommodation: N70,000 (7 in a room)
  2. Premium accommodation: N100,000 (4 in a room)
  3. Classic accommodation: N150,000 (3 or 2 in a room.

 

Here is a breakdown of Babcock fees:

Medical student: N3 million

Law student: N2million

Accounting student: N1.5 million

Nursing student: N1 million

Other faculties: N860,000-N620,000

 

AFE BABALOLA UNIVERSITY

Afe Babalola University is a private higher institution in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state. It was established in 2009, by one of Nigeria’s foremost lawyers and legal icon, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN). The fee covers tuition, development levy, ICT, ID card, medical, sports, PTCF levy, course registration,  caution fee and accommodation which is either four or two per room.

For Engineering courses: N925,000 in a room with four beds and N1,275,000 with two beds.

Health Science courses: N725,000 with four beds and N875,000 two beds, And there is no provision for feeding.

 

BOWEN UNIVERSITY

It is owned and operated by the Nigerian Baptist Convention(NBC), at Iwo in Osun state. The school was opened in November 2002. The tuition fee ranges from N520,000 to N900,000 (Medicine) and (Law)N800,000

For new students, an acceptance fee of N60,000 is paid. And also Bowen adapted a payment structure of a minimum of N300,000 from the session fees. In the first semester, before registration a balance of N220,000 have to be paid before the second semester registration. The university is only responsible for accommodation and tuition. Students buy their foods from cafeteria’s (Bupaf, Grubies, Kemi B, etc). The students are also made to pay some fees like Neworaison fee of N20,000.

BUPA fee: N10,000

Damages: N4,000

Departmental fee: N5,000

 

COVENANT UNIVERSITY

This university is owned by Winners Chapel’s overseer, Bishop David Oyedepo. The university is in Ogun state and was established on October 21, 2002. The tuition fee ranges from N600,000 to N700,000. Recently, Bishop David Oyedepo revealed that the tuition fee will be reduced to encourage student population.

Three meals per day for a month: N63,000

 

 

CRAWFORD UNIVERSITY

Crawford University is a private Christian institution in Igbesa, Ogun State It was established in 2005. The school provides accommodation for students but does not provide feeding. Parents are only to pay for tuition, accommodation and some additional charges.

Business and Social Sciences, 100 level and direct entry: N440,000 and an acceptance fee of 25,000=N465,000, while 200-400 level pay N440,000.

Natural and Applied Sciences 100 level and direct entry: N470,000 and an acceptance fee of  N25,000=N495,000 while 200-400 level pay N470,000.
