MTN Brings Football Closer to Fans as Premier League Season Ends Dramatically Across Nigeria

Football fans across Nigeria witnessed the thrilling finale of the 2024/25 English Premier League season in grand style as leading telecommunications company, MTN Nigeria, hosted exciting viewing experiences in Lagos, Abuja, and Lokoja. The brand-supported watch parties, held at Bay Lounge (Lekki), University of Abuja (Management Hall), and Essence Place (Lokoja), offered fans front-row access to all the final-day action, suspense, and celebration.

With the English Premier League title, Champions League slots, and European qualification on the line, the final round of matches delivered all the emotional highs and lows football is known for. From Liverpool’s nail-biting 1–1 draw with Crystal Palace at Anfield, enough to clinch their 20th top-flight title, to Chelsea’s vital win that sealed their return to the Champions League, the final day provided no shortage of defining moments.

Manchester City confirmed their third-place finish with a 2–0 victory over Fulham. Chelsea clinched fourth place and a Champions League berth by defeating Nottingham Forest 1–0, denying Forest a higher European competition spot. Despite a 1–0 loss to Everton, Newcastle United secured fifth place and Champions League qualification, benefiting from Aston Villa’s 2–0 defeat at Manchester United.

In true MTN fashion, fans at the watch parties were treated to an immersive fan experience complete with interactive games, brand activations, and instant giveaways that added colour to the event across all the locations.

“Football is more than just a game; it’s an emotional and communal experience,” said Lakinbofa Goodluck, MTN Nigeria’s PR Manager. “We’re proud to support platforms that bring people together around their passion, and today’s Premier League finale was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the beautiful game with our customers across Nigeria.”

With the league title decided, European spots locked in, and a season’s worth of stories written in one afternoon, fans left the venues reminded of why they love football and the power of shared experiences to deepen that connection.

This watch party is a part of MTN Nigeria’s continued support for sports engagement across the country, following similar events held earlier in the year around key Premier League fixtures.

As the season ends, one thing is clear for football fans in Nigeria: MTN continues to deliver moments that matter.
