If you’re a journalist, content creator, or media disruptor still thinking about applying for the MTN Media Innovation Programme (MIP) 2025, here’s your second chance, literally.

MTN Nigeria, in partnership with the School of Media and Communication (SMC), Pan-Atlantic University, has extended the application deadline for the fourth edition of its prestigious MIP fellowship from April 7 to April 12, 2025. The extension comes as a response to overwhelming interest from media professionals eager to join the elite community of MIP fellows shaping the future of storytelling in Nigeria.

Launched in 2022, the Media Innovation Programme is a six-month, fully funded certificate fellowship tailored to empower journalists, broadcasters, and digital creators with the tools to not only survive but thrive in a rapidly evolving media landscape. Think of it as a crash course in the future of media, with real-world exposure, global immersion, and a powerful alumni network to boot.
Over the last three editions, the program has trained 60 fellows, introduced new perspectives on digital transformation, and facilitated an international study tour to South Africa, bridging the media gap between West and Southern Africa.
The Nigerian media industry, currently projected to grow from $9.0 billion in 2023 to $13.6 billion by 2028, is facing a tricky balancing act. Digital disruption, monetisation struggles, and dwindling traditional media revenues have all become the new normal. MIP is MTN’s solution to that challenge, offering a lifeline to media professionals willing to reinvent themselves.
The programme goes beyond workshops and webinars. It’s a transformational experience with masterclasses, hands-on projects, international exposure, and access to top media institutions. With the new application deadline now set for April 12, applicants have a little more time to put their best foot forward.
But don’t wait too long, Nigeria’s media future isn’t going to wait either.
