MTN s Focused on Closing Gender Gaps – MTN’s Njideka Jack Insists at Women’s Summit

MTN is focused on closing the digital gender gap, driven by a commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable pathways for women in technology. Speaking at the Women in Technology and Engineering Summit (WITESA) held on June 23, 2026, at the MUSON Centre in Lagos, Njideka Jack, General Manager, Enterprise Marketing at MTN Nigeria, said the company is intentional about bridging gender gaps in the sector.

Jack disclosed that women currently make up 41.4 percent of MTN’s workforce and 46.4 percent of its executive leadership. She said women “are represented at the intersection of innovation, infrastructure, and inclusive technology.” She added that this progress is reflected in MTN’s broader interventions, including the empowerment of over 5,700 Y’ellopreneurs and the sponsorship of female students at the summit to provide mentorship, exposure, and industry engagement.

Organised by Womenovate and supported by the MTN Foundation, the summit brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and emerging professionals focused on building a more inclusive digital ecosystem and expanding opportunities for young women in Africa’s technology space.

The Lagos State Government commended the initiative as a key driver of talent development. Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Olatunbosun Alake, said initiatives that create visibility and mentorship opportunities remain critical to developing future talent. “Initiatives such as this are important because they provide the visibility, mentorship, and recognition that inspire young women to pursue careers in engineering, technology, artificial intelligence, data science, and other emerging sectors,” he said.

As discussions closed, the summit highlighted a growing emphasis on ensuring that technological advancement is accompanied by broader participation and access, particularly for women and young professionals expected to shape the future of the continent’s digital economy.
