Mudi denies erecting own building in Ghana

‘I am still a tenant’

Mudiaga Enajemo popularly known as Mudi recently rolled out the drums in a re-launch of his Ghana outlet. However, the impression is that he has moved into his own property. But when ENCOMIUM weekly spoke with the talented designer, he denied such. We also ask him questions on sundry issues.

mudiCongratulations on the opening of your Ghana outlet, how does it feel seeing you dream come true?

Thank you very much, it feels so good, though we have been in Ghana for more than four years now (since 2009). We just had a restructuring, we moved to a bigger and better location. It is quite good, thank God for the success of the whole thing.

Tell us about the structure, how much did it gulp?

I am still a tenant, I am yet to own my place over there. We just had to renovate the place we got, that is all. I don’t keep records as such, so I can’t say this is what we spent.

What are the services you render at the Ghana outlet?

It is one of our sales outlets, we do the designing and every other thing in Lagos State. Lagos is our headquarters. Customers just come to buy off the rack in outlets. We send outfits to all our outlet every month.

How many outlets do you have?

We have four outside Nigeria, one each in Ghana, South Africa, Kenya and Senegal. We also have three branches in Nigeria, one in Abuja, Port Harcourt and Lagos.

How do you juggle managing all your branches nationwide?

I am used to it. Once you have passion for something, it becomes easy to manage it. I visit at least one outlet every month to know how things are going on over there. It is something I have to do to keep the work going.

Which is your favourite outlet and why?

Nigeria is my favourite, we have a bigger market here in Nigeria than any other part of the world. Apart from that, I am a Nigerian, I must do whatever we want to do here before moving outside the country. Home is home, no matter what. We also re-launched our Abuja branch, the same way we did in Ghana. The re-launch was on Thursday, November 28, 2013. We moved to a better and bigger place. We believe that God will help us become land lord there very soon.
