Nigerians happy with Dangote over N1,000 cement

The news of the reduction of cement price by Dangote Group has elicited wide jubilation from Nigerians. Commending Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote for the N1,000 per bag of cement price regime, they only hoped the quality of the products wouldn’t be comprised.

‘I cannot say anything about the quality now’- ALHAJI TIJANI
I have heard that the price of cement has come down. I was told Dangote is selling at N1,000 now. I still have old stock with me, but I will get more supply in a couple of days.
About the quality, you know it is a new product. I cannot say anything about the quality now until we get feedback from our customers.

‘It is a good thing any way…’ – ADERIBIGBE BOSE
That is what people are saying, so I had to ask some of my friends in the same business. I cannot sell mine like that until I finish the ones in my store. It is a good thing any way if it is true.
We want the government to appeal to other manufacturers to drop their own prices too.

‘If it is so, I think I will also start selling Dangote brand’- ADETUNJI ANIFOWOSE
I don’t sell Dangote product. I only heard that the price has dropped. If it is so, I think I will also start selling Dangote brand because that is what people will start asking for since it is cheap.

I hope they stick to it’- KAMALDEEN SALIU
We thank God if it is true. I am going to find out about it. A lot of people will finish their abandoned building now. I hope they stick to it.

‘I don’t trust them at all’ – BOSE AJAYI
I don’t trust them at all. Why didn’t they bring down the price of land? Are we sure of the quality they will be producing. They can sustain it if they mean it but, I don’t trust them at all.

‘It is a good thing for Nigeria’s economy’ – GBENGA ISAAC
It is a good thing for Nigeria’s economy. Before now, the common man found it difficult to own a house. I think with this, a lot of people will start building their own houses, with this also, competitors will follow suit. I hope so. It is something to start and another to sustain it.

‘I doubt if it would be sustained’ – VICTORIA OKEZIE, Agbara
I welcome the fall of cement price as initiated by Africa’s richest man. I think it will generally reduce the cost of building which will in turn lower rent.
But I doubt if it would be sustained because there are other factors of production and economic polities cement producers cannot control. Dangote himself can also not be totally trusted when it comes to business interest.

‘Let’s wait and see if it would be fully implemented’- MICHAEL CHINEDU
Yes, it is a positive development. Let’s wait and see if it would be fully implemented. There’s no guarantee it would be sustainable.

‘Is like this people are kidding us the way I’m seeing things’ – ANIBABA IBUKUNOLUWAWA
To me is like this people are kidding us the way I’m seeing things. I heard about it sometimes ago and there are other companies also, this is just a market strategy once they lure you into it before you know it, there would hike in price.
And again I doubt if the quality would be the same again how can a bag of cement sold for 1750 naira jumped to 1000 this is serious! Let’s be careful please.

‘This is not the best for our economy’ – CEMENT PRICE
As good as it sounds, what happens to those distributors who have more than enough bags of cement to sell till the end of the year, would they as well still go with this new price? This is not the best for the economy of Nigeria at the moment.
No, because this is a country where things change only in the selfish interest of the leaders.

‘The only constant thing in this life is change’- AYOMIKUN ADELAJA
We all know Dangote is a business mogul who understands the economic situation of the country. For me, if he feels reducing the price of his cement would be of help to the country, I have nothing to say.
The only constant thing in this life is change, I am sure later on the price of cement will change.

‘Only if Dangote meant what he said’ – IDERAOLUWA IBRAHIM
If actually Dangote meant what they said by changing the price to N1000 I think it would be a good idea. I meant it I’m going to be a landlord very soon.

‘Is a very good decision’ – HENRY UDOH
The crash in the price of cement as announced by Dangote is a very good decision. I pray God will continue to help his companies. If all other industrialists can emulate that by bringing down the prices of their various products, I believe Nigeria will be a very good place to be in the next few years.
I can’t doubt the sustainability of the price because Dangote might have weighed all the necessary consequences before announcing it.

‘It’s a welcome development if all other competitors will also do the same’ – FAUSAT AHMED
It’s a welcome development if all other competitors will also do the same. But I doubt it. Also, I don’t think Dangote Group of Companies that announced that can sustain the price. N1,000 per a bag of cement will to a very large extent help the poor who have been struggling to have houses to call their own.
