NIMASA presents relief materials to Imo State Government

The Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has presented some relief materials to Imo State Government to assist her in alleviating the sufferings of Imo indigenes who suffered one challenge or the other in the series of uncertainties that took place in the State recently.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Director General/Chief Executive of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh at the Government House Owerri, Tuesday,  the Director, Legal Services and Board Secretary,  Sir Victor Egejuru, said that the presentation is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility to the citizens of States that sustained untold hardship from the Covid-19, #ENDSARS protest, security breaches and other vices that destabilized their lives as Nigerian Citizens. 

Some of the items presented to the Imo State government include: 15 (50kg) bags of rice, 15 (25kg) bags of rice, 80 tubers of yams, 12 bags (100kg)  white garri, 12 bags of 12kg yellow garri. 

Others include 35 (6x3x6 inches) mattresses, 40 medium blankets, routine drugs and anti-malarial drugs,  two 10cc Bajaj Boxer Motorcycles, food items, three Grinding machines and Butterfly sewing machines, sanitary pads, diapers and 20 Adire tye and dye and 30 Accra and others. 

Receiving the materials,  Governor  Hope Uzodimma who was represented by the Head of Administration and Finance,  Government House, Mrs. Julia Ukaigwe thanked NIMASA for “coming to the assistance of the State at this moment when it needs such assistance most.”

She said that “this is a very critical time in the life of every government, especially Imo State that faced so many challenges including that of insecurity.”

She expressed gratitude of the State and emphasised that it has become necessary because “Government cannot not do it alone”.

She noted that the government of Imo State under Senator Uzodimma has put in a lot to alleviate the sufferings of Imolites who were caught in the web of the unfortunate crises in the State,  but still needs all necessary assistance from individuals and corporate bodies to further reach those not yet covered.

She thanked NIMASA again for the gesture and wished the organisation well.

Lady Agnes Ajoku of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in the office of the Secretary to Government of Imo State joined Mrs. Ukaigwe in receiving the visitors.
