NTFS producer, designers speak on the show: ‘We are having designers from other states’- Alero Dediare, Producer

THE Nigerian Television Fashion Show held on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Yard 158 Event Centre, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Lagos.

In this interview with the producer, Alero Dediare, the amiable lady bared it all about the success story of the quarterly show.

ENCOMIUM Weekly also spoke with some of the designers who showcased on the runway Mrs. Rakia Ilori, Oreofe Adebowale, Eniola Akintunde and Kofoworola Agboola.

How does it feel organizing this show?

Being the producer of the Nigerian Television Fashion Show is actually a great privilege and with the help of my boss, I can’t be happier than I am right now.

What has been the challenges?

I resumed at the Nigerian Television Fashion Show last year.  So, the only challenge I know is getting good and quality designers to parade their brands on the runway.  From what I have noticed so far, we have ‘tailors’ everywhere and not good designers.  So, having to pull them together is a big challenge.

Most of these designers are new, so how do you feel knowing you are supporting their brand?

I know I am contributing my own quota as well as Galaxy Television.  Also, the fashion industry is accepted by a lot of Nigerians and in the diaspora, so many people tend to appreciate African fabrics.

How much did the show gulp?

For every quarter, that is, three months that the show is usually staged, it gulps over N4 million.  So, in a year, we spend nothing less than N13 million.

What makes this edition of NTFS different from the previous ones?

We are doing something new in this edition called, The Spring Collection.  Also, for the first time a lot of our designers do not reside in Lagos.  We have designers from Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom to mention a few.  We are also partnering the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FDAN).

How do you intend making the next edition better?

It would definitely be better because we intend to host couples in the Nigerian entertainment industry which would actually be the Summer or the Globe Collection.

How do you source your designers?

Galaxy Television is a media outfit.  So, occasionally, we run our adverts on television and we get designers for auditions and from there, we pick the best to showcase themselves on the runway.

How would you rate this edition of NTFS?

I would say, it is better than last year’s edition because we did not have mature audience.
