Abeokuta, Ogun State, stood still on Saturday, November 30, 2013, when one of former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s sons, Bisoye wedded his lover, Chigozie Nwenyi. The ceremony held inside Chapel of Christ The Glorious King, Obasanjo Presidential Library Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Reception also held inside the presidential library complex.
Some loyalists of Chief Obasanjo, including political heavy weights, made it to the beautiful wedding.
VERY PRIVATE WORLD OF BISOYE AND CHIGOZIE
Bisoye Obasanjo is one of the children of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo. Not much is known about him until recently when news of his wedding to an Igbo lover hit town. Bisoye’s mother is late. She was Igbo from Imo State. She’s one of the many women of Chief Obasanjo. Presently, Bisoye is in charge of Obasanjo Farms Limited. He is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Chigozie Nwenyi is the beautiful daughter of Chief U.D Nwenyi (J.P) from Ebonyi State, a top shot at Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.
THEIR LOVE STORY
BIsoye and Chigozie Obasanjo had known each other for 10 years. They met in Abuja while still in school and since then became inseparable.
THE SOLEMNIZATION OF HOLY MATRIMONY
Bisoye and Chigozie Obasanjo were joined in holy matrimony at Chapel of Christ The Glorious King, Obasanjo Presidential Library Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State. It was a three hour ceremony characterized by songs, vows, exchange of rings, signing of the register and thanksgiving.
GOVERNOR AMOSUN IN ATTENDANCE
Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun led other dignitaries to the wedding. The governor appeared lonely in an ambience filed with PDP bigwigs. He didn’t make it to the reception as he left after the church service to attend to other state matters.
OBASANJO’S LOYALISTS REGROUP
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had some of his core loyalists on his side at his son’s wedding. At the beautiful wedding were his close friends, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, Otunba Adekunle and Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, Senator Shade Bent, Steve Oronsanye, Mrs. Omotayo Omotosho, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Engr. Segun Oni, Chief Tony Anenih, Chief Kenny Martins, Francis Ogboro, Nuhu Ribadu and others.
FROM ABUJA WITH LOVE
Representatives of President Goodluck Jonathan stormed the wedding venue with warm wishes from the seat of power. Ms. Jumoke Akinjide, Minister of State for FCT and Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina joined other well wishers.
IBB, THE CHAIRMAN
Former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) made it to the nuptials. The gap-tooth retired general was the chairman of the occasion, but he couldn’t perform the task before he left the scene, reason being that the venue was not ready on time.
HOW THE BRIDAL PARTY LEFT THE CHURCH
The 20-man bridal party cruised in a stretch Infiniti limousine to the reception not too far from the church. Bisoye and Chigozie, however, were ferried in a horse drawn carriage to the reception.
CHRISTOPHER KOLADE STEPS OUT WITH WIFE
Few days after he resigned as SURE-P boss, Dr. Christopher Kolade appeared at the wedding in grand style. The former Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom came with his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Kolade.
TWO-HOUR BLACKOUT
For over two hours, guests inside the two giant marquees were left in the dark. The generator and the air-conditioners refused to work. And for that long, technicians battled the situation, guests were sweating profusely. Those who couldn’t stand the heat moved outside for fresh air. About 4pm, the light came on and everybody was happy.
ALI BABA CALLED TO DUTY
A-list comedian, Ali Baba was the compere. Because of the hitches in powering the marquees, the talented rib-cracker rushed through the reception programme and before long it was dance, dance and dance.
ABOUT NIKE OLADUNNI
There is one person Chief Olusegun Obasanjo listens to apart from his wife. That person is Nike Oladunni. Oladunni is a top officer of Nigerian Customs Service and very close to the Owu born retired general. She was in-charge of the wedding from start to finish, calling the shots.
MIKE ADENUGA REPRESENTED
Billionaire Chief Mike Adenuga (jnr) was represented by his wife, Mrs. Titi Adenuga.
THE SPECIAL PERFORMANCE
As a surprise to the newly married couple, hip hop artiste, Danny Krane entertained. The music star after dishing out two of his hit tracks disappeared.
THOSE MISSING IN ACTION
Some of the children of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo were absent. Conspicuously not at the event were one of his favourite daughters, Mr. Iyabo Obasanjo and her brother, Gbenga Obasanjo.
PARTY PILLARS
The beautiful ceremony was managed by Savvy Events. Bonix supplied all the drinks. Security was by Spartan Security; the giant marquees, the horse drawn carriages and the stretch Infiniti limousine were supplied by Broadway Events.
