Obesere unbothered by the criticisms trailing his Alhaji Agba title, ‘That’s their business’

POPULAR fuji act, Alhaji Abass Akande, better addressed as Obesere, has shocked his critics over his new title, Alhaji Agba.  He added that those who are still criticizing the title are only wasting their valuable time as he is not even bothered about it.

Speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Friday, October 2, 2015, the Paramount King of Music (PK 1ST) expressed total disappointment in those still debating the issue both within and outside the industry.  According to Obesere, his installation as

Alhaji Agba of Fuji is the Will of God and the wish of fuji fans across the country.

“I am aware of the fact that not everybody will be happy that I became Alhaji Agba among fuji musicians, but it’s not my making. It’s the wish of fuji fans all over Nigeria that I become Alhaji Agba.  If the title doesn’t fit me, I am sure they won’t insist on giving me.

“After all, I didn’t beg for it.  It’s the fans who considered me fit for the title.  And remember, the voice of the people is the voice of God.  So, my becoming Alhaji Agba also has to do with the Will of God. I don’t owe anybody any apology on that.

“Just like I told you earlier, the day I became Alhaji Agba, I said Alhaji Kollington Ayinla had automatically become Alhaji Agba’s father, while K1 de Ultiamte still remains the ultimate friend of Alhaji Agba. So, I don’t think there is any controversy in that at all.

“And as Alhaji Agba, I have made it a point of duty to embrace all other fuji artistes all over the country.  My primary objective is to ensure the genre is moved forward and make sure there is peace in fuji house.  All these criticisms you’re talking about, I don’t care.”

Meanwhile, since Omo Rapala, as Obesere is also known, has declared himself Alhaji Agba of fuji and an album was released in that respect, his action has been generating mixed feelings within and outside the genre.  While some believed there is nothing wrong in Obesere being Alhaji Agba of fuji, others still insisted that the Ibadan, Oyo born fuji star had shot beyond bounds by accepting the title when the likes of General Kollington Ayinla, Iyanda Sawaba, K1 de Ultimate and others are still very much alive and kicking.  But all these criticisms were rubbished when ENCOMIUM Weekly contacted the Asakasa crooner.
