Ogun Set for African Drum Festival 2019

The fourth edition of the African Drum Festival, an initiative of the Ogun State Government, is scheduled to hold from Thursday, 25th through Saturday 27th April 2019. Venue is the contemporary 10,000 capacity amphitheatre, located within the Abeokuta City Centre.

The theme of this years event is “DRUMming for FUTURE”.A press release signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Mr. Rotimi Durojaiye, stated that this years edition is enriched with a wider range of contents, further solidifying the festivals reputation as one of the most revolutionary cultural events in Africa.Major highlights of the fourth edition of the African Drum Festival include an international roundtable and workshop led by Prof. Wole Soyinka, a Nobel Laureate and the festivals consultant; exhibition performances by troupes, from various regions across the world; cultural education and exposition by traditional rulers and culture scholars; a festival village providing an array of local culture, lifestyle, arts and food court as well as unveiling of the Ransome Kuti Legacy Museum among others.The release added that in fulfillment of the vision of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the festivals convener, the three-day event has successfully placed the state on the world map as the cultural destination of choice.

Meanwhile, Amosun will address a world press conference on the festival on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Banquet Hall of MITROS Residences, Ibara GRA, beginning from 11 a.m.
