OTEDOLA SERVED WITH HONOUR, CANDOUR AND DISCIPLINE-FASHOLA

As Governor visits family of departed third republic predecessor in Epe
Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to the residence of the departed former Governor of Lagos State, Sir Michael Otedola in Odoragunsen Epe, stating that his was a story of courage and commitment to pursue his dreams against all odds.
Paying tributes to Sir Otedola for his commitment to public housing and overall development of the State, the Governor who spoke in an interview with newsmen after signing the condolence register noted that his emergence in the Third Republic was historic and indicative of divine intervention.
According to Governor Fashola, Sir Otedola’s record of service is well documented and appreciated as it was a service that was given with a lot of honour, candour and discipline.
He noted that all that was left now is for the people to show value for the service in the way that he is being celebrated just as he has come to condole with the family, adding that though Sir Otedola had been out of office for a while, he was never forgotten just as all those who served the state will never be forgotten by an appreciative citizenry.
Governor Fashola recalled that Sir Otedola was Governor in the third republic and that history recorded the very dramatic way he emerged as the Governor from virtually an unknown political background then from private service and business to run for the highest office in Lagos.
He also said in terms of development of the State, the former Governor showed commitment to public housing and his period brought about politics of enlightenment, and politics of debate which evokes nostalgic memories.
While speaking on the task of managing Lagos, the Governor said it is an ongoing undertaking and that every person who is privileged to serve as Governor is inspired when he reads the story of his predecessors and all of the challenges that they faced especially as it affects containing the onslaught by the national government and defying all odds to keep the state going.
He was received by the widow, Lady Doja Otedola, and some of the children including Mr Ayo Otedola, Mrs Lola Segun Idaho and former Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie.
