Profiles of the new principal officers of Lagos House of Assembly

HON. MUDASHIRU AJAYI OBASA, the Speaker, was born on November 11, 1972. He has a degree in Law.  He has never practiced law though.  He got his degree as a member of Lagos House of Assembly.

He was a councilor at Agege Local Government Council before he became a member of Lagos House of Assembly in 2003.  He has been re-elected three times into the same seat.  He has been chairman of several committees of the House such as Public Account (Local Government) and Budget and Economic Planning.

 

HON. WASIU ESHINLOKUN-SANNI, the Deputy Speaker is in his 50s.  He is representing Lagos Island Constituency I.  He is a graduate of Agricultural Economics from Ogun State University and International Law and Diplomacy from University of Lagos.

He was a member of Lagos House of Assembly between 1999 to 2003.  He had also been Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Legislative and Political Matters.

He was the Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government Council between 2007 and 2014.

He was also the state Secretary of APC from where he resigned to contest for Lagos Island Constituency I seat again.  He is married and has children.

 

HON. SANAI AGUNBIADE is the Majority Leader.  He was born on October 25, 1964.  He holds National Certificate on Education (NCE) and a degree in Law from Lagos State University, Ojo.  He became a member in 2007 representing Ikorodu Constituency I.  He is married and has children.

 

HON. OLUMUYIWA JIMOH is the Deputy Majority Leader.  He was born on October 2, 1974.  He holds a first degree in Philosophy from University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State. He became a member of the House in 2011 and was returned for second term on April 11, 2015. He is married and has children.

HON. LATEEF ROTIMI ABIRU is the Chief Whip.  He was born on November 10, 1966.  He holds a B.Sc and M.Sc in Chemistry from University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos.  He was first voted into the House in 2007, in 2011 and 2015 to represent Somolu Constituency II.  He is married and has children.

 

HON. OMOTAYO ODUNTAN is the Deputy Chief Whip.  She is the only female member of the Principal Officers.  She was born on June 5, 1957 and holds a Diploma in Hotel and Catering from London.  She was first voted into the Assembly in 1999.  In 2003, she was appointed Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

She regained her seat in the House of Assembly in 2011 and again in 2015.  She is married and has children.
