Reactions to Super Eagles’ performance at the World Cup

FOLASHADE SHOWUNMI

They tried their best, at least they got to the second round. Other football nations like Spain, Uruguay, England didn’t even make it to that level before they went home. We should leverage on this and improve in our next outing.

YINKA BANKOLE

Quite impressive, they should do better than that next time. It is not easy to run around the field for 90 minutes. Those who are criticizing them should try it.

ERONDU UCHENNA ERONDU

I’m still in support of our national team. They lost gallantly to France despite their late minute flaws. I believe they can be a better team.

In fact, the Super Eagles will rule the world in Russia 2018. Their performance was okay, though much was expected from them.

CHRIS TOM WEST

Even in their disappointing defeat by France, who are also out of the World Cup, I’m still proud of Super Eagles.  In judging their performance, we must take cognizance of their poor preparations and logistics.

In all, I will say they didn’t disgrace Nigeria.

JOSEPH WEST

It was not a bad outing for the Super Eagles. We did better than the previous two or three editions, so it wasn’t too bad. We could have progressed to the quarterfinals but for injuries and ill-luck.

We should build on the good performance and hope for better luck next time.

BABAJIDE JULIUS

The Super Eagles ended the World Cup on a disappointing note. Having said that, I think there were positives from the tournament due to some players that broke into the scene. Players like Babatunde, Onazi shone like a million stars while the likes of Mikel, Victor Moses flopped spectacularly.

MICHAEL ADEDEJI

We’re yet to build a committed senior team. It’s only our junior teams that are always reliable. The Super Eagles are always with one surprise or the other, either negative or positive. The team didn’t play well against France.

They over-worked Vincent Enyeama and Joseph Yobo. That’s why Yobo scored against his team. Our midfield was very poor and the defence was also too porous. I don’t know what Mikel Obi is still doing in the team, he should be replaced.

DAUDA SALAMI

I don’t think the Super Eagles are to blame for losing the match to France. I learnt they didn’t want to pay their match bonus, and that’s exactly what discouraged them.

They are human beings as well, they deserve to be encouraged by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Even we can’t blame Stephen Keshi. But at the same time, if they had put all their might and mind into the match, they should have won.

MAHMUD ABDULRAZAK

We never thought they could get pass the group stages but they performed beyond my expectations! It was an excellent outing but the team and the coaching crew needs to work on their weaknesses for a better outing next time.
