SKY Girls, a vibrant community of teen girls across Nigeria dedicated to self-expression and authenticity premiered its new eight-part series, Journey to Bloom on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Ikeja City Mall. The Lagos premiere had a range of guests in attendance including Jamiu Alli Balogun, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, represented by Mr. Yemi Ajani, Dr. Wura Adeyemi, Assistant Coordinator, Adolescent Health, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Peju Adenusi, pioneer General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) and SRH Consultant for The Sky Girls Project, Adenike Odutola, Country Director, Sky Girls Nigeria, Benedicta Ogbian, Account Director, Sky Girls, Alice Railton, Senior Consultant, Good Business, and Tomisin Adeoye, Executive Director, Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative and other guests.

Journey To The Bloom centres around the lives of two girls and how they are navigating their teenage years at Blooming Heights College. With themes exploring financial inclusion, sexual reproductive health and empowerment, Journey To The Bloom promises to be educative as well as entertaining as these teenagers tackle real-life issues with every episode.
The eight-part series features a range of talented young actors including Ayomide Boluwatife (Tife), Judith Ushi (Naima), Isoken Aruede (Jibs), Wonuola Lanre Akinremi (Yomi), Nadia Dutch (Bibi), and Samson Imanah (Kunle), who were able to bring the themes of the series to life with their creative and excellent interpretation of the storyline.
According to Adenike Odutola, Country Director, SKY Girls Nigeria, “the series was created to showcase the core values of the SKY Girls community through an approach that captivates their intended audience, leveraging the acting prowess of budding acts, Odutola emphatically states that the SKY Girls team has created a series that shows the complexities in teenage relationships.”
She also noted that “the series production provided ample opportunity to discover new talents as some of the casts made up of teenagers were able to explore their potentials, considering that this was the first time they were acting and this will directly impact their future in the creative industry. She further explained that every episode was carefully crafted and curated to address uniquely and purely Nigerian issues that affect the day-to-day lives of young teenage girls while infusing the reality of every Nigerian family to further buttress the key message in the series.
The series which also addresses the key issues of financial literacy for teenage girls in Nigeria forms part of a broader effort to drive financial inclusion and economic development in the country by SKY Girls Nigeria.
Journey To The Bloom is set to air on Africa Magic Family every Saturday at 6:30 pm.
