Nollywood actress, Sola Kosoko-Abina and daughter of veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, on Saturday, July 19, 2014, gave birth to a baby girl at Queen’s Hospital, New York, USA. During a brief interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Monday, November 10, 2014, the beautiful actress shared her delivery experience and her joy of being a mother….
Congratulations on the birth of your little queen, how do you feel?
I feel great and happy because it’s a unique experience.
How would you describe the whole experience?
To me, it was a time of joy because I carried my pregnancy elegantly and people were amazed as to how smart I was during pregnancy. Even when I was almost due, people thought I just got pregnant, so I was really happy because God made it so easy for me.
While in the labour room, what was going through your mind?
I only went to the hospital to register only to hear that I had to be admitted to give birth. I was stunned but I wasn’t scared. I refused to stay but after speaking with my doctor here in Nigeria, Dr Deji, I decided to stay and I gave birth the following day.
When you finally heard the cry of your baby, how did that make you feel?
I was just praying throughout in the labour room. I felt so elated, and when I heard the cry of my little princess, I continued praising God in my mind. I could not have been much happier, I just give God all the glory.
Now that you are a Mom, what is likely to change about you?
What has already changed is that no matter where I am, I must rush home knowing full well my responsibilities as a wife and a mother – but I must say, it’s not easy.
What is the name of your baby and what informed the name?
Her name is Oluwasindara Waheedah Abina. I gave her that name because I produced a movie entitled Sindara in 2009 and was released in 2011 and ever since I fell in love with that name because of its uniqueness. It means in Yoruba God will always be Good. For Waheedah, my husband’s Islamic name is Waheed so I found Waheedah in Islamic book of names and I checked for the meaning which is also unique as well.
How are you rocking motherhood?
Being a mother is not easy, neither is it a day’s job. But I thank God for His support and love. All I can say is that, I am enjoying the new experience and flaunting it at the same time.
I think the joy of motherhood is something that cannot be explained until one gets there because the feeling is different. After delivery, I’ve been feeling so complete, I can’t be more grateful to God.
When are you likely to get back on screen?
I am already back on screen. In fact, I have been from one location to another and I also have a lot of scripts on my table as I’m talking now.
