The Macallan Partners with Mai Atafo for SS’25 Collection, Reinforcing Its Commitment to African Fashion

The Macallan, world-renowned Scottish whisky brand, and ATAFO, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated fashion brands, unveiled the Synonymously Luxe-Spring/Summer ’25 collection this past weekend. The highly anticipated collaboration delivered a spectacular showcase of artistry, craftsmanship, and innovation, setting a new benchmark for African luxury fashion by seamlessly incorporating bold, bespoke designs with an immersive, multi-sensory experience.

 

The two-day fashion experience began on Saturday, 30th November 2024, with an exclusive, multi-sensory showcase held in Ikoyi, Lagos. Guests, including fashion influencers, and industry leaders, such as Award-winning media host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu; Producer, TV & Radio Presenter, IK Osakioduwa The Founder and CEO of Red Media, Adebola Williams;  CEO, Eton House, Francis Obazuwa; Multimedia personality, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Fashion & Lifestyle Content Creator, Akin Faminu, and other distinguished guests, experienced ATAFO’s bespoke designs in an intimate and interactive format designed to immerse guests in the collections.

 

The Synonymously Luxe fashion show was a remarkable display of excellence showcasing ATAFO’s impeccable tailoring and bold yet sophisticated designs. Each piece reflected the brand’s dedication to harmonising innovation with tradition, showcasing the craftsmanship that has become a hallmark of African fashion.

 

The partnership between The Macallan, renowned for its exceptional single malt Scotch whisky, and ATAFO, a leading Nigerian luxury fashion brand, also accentuated the synergy between cultural heritage and global appeal. By merging bespoke fashion with luxury whisky, the collaboration celebrated the richness of African creativity while resonating with a global audience. This harmonious fusion of artistry emphasised the continent’s growing influence on the international stage.

 

The experience was further elevated by immersive soundscapes from Bang & Olufsen and the enchanting allure of Clive Christian’s signature fragrances while savouring the refined taste of The Macallan.

 

The fashion show continued on Sunday, 1st December 2024, with a digital runway presentation of ATAFO’s womenswear collection. Broadcast live on ATAFO’s Instagram page, the showcase brought the richness of African fashion to a global audience, further demonstrating The Macallan’s vision of elevating African talent and amplifying its creative voice worldwide.

At the event, award-winning fashion designer and founder of ATAFO, Mai Atafo, shared the vision behind the theme,  ‘Synonymously Luxe’. He described the SS ‘25 collection as an exploration of luxury, designed to transcend fashion by engaging the five human senses.

 

This collaboration represents The Macallan’s ongoing investment in Africa’s creative industries, reinforcing its dedication to artistry, storytelling, and innovation. Together with ATAFO, The Macallan is rewriting the narrative of African luxury and celebrating a new era of fashion and creativity.
