Y’ello Hope Package: Little actions tackling big challenges

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the global Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has infected over 300,000 people across 147 countries.  In Nigeria, there are increasing cases of infected persons across states in the country since the index case reported on February 27, 2020, in Lagos.

The government through the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has imposed several guidelines to curb the spread of the virus including the closure of schools, travel restrictions and encouraging people to work from home. To support the government’s effort, MTN Nigeria created the Y’ello Hope Package, a series of measures to support Nigerians during the pandemic. First, in the series of this initiative, the company is waiving all transaction fees for the Cash2Cash service for four weeks, with immediate effect. Cash2Cash is the flagship service of Y’ello Digital Financial Services (YDFS), a subsidiary of MTN Nigeria, which helps Nigerians send and receive money from any part of the country without a bank account.

By making distant payments more convenient and lifting the charges associated with money transfer, customers are able to deal with the myriad of challenges both businesses and individuals are facing as a result of the events associated with COVID-19.  Other measures implemented by the company include the work from home policy for most of its employees, elimination of non-critical meetings and restriction on international travel.

MTN Customers can dial *223# to locate the closest MoMo Agent to their location and take advantage of the FREE Cash2Cash service.
