Yemi Solade rubbishes love child tale

‘It’s the handiwork of my detractors’

POPULAR thespian, Yemi Solade has refuted social media report that he abandoned a 10 year-old daughter from one Mrs. Seun Olowolusi Obafemi, he was said to have met on a movie set some years back.

He added that it’s nothing but an inflammatory rumour to malign his image.

He further described those sponsoring it as detractors and blackmailers.

Speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Saturday, March 22, 2014, the handsome actor expressed dismay about the publication, warning those behind it to discontinue what he described as a wasteful venture.  “To start with, I don’t know the woman they are talking about nor do I know any child they said I abandoned.  When I was informed of the story, I only laughed because there is no iota of truth in it.  If the child they are talking about is mine, she will definitely be in my custody, not elsewhere.  That means they are lying.  As a matter of fact, I don’t have any child I abandoned. I believe such a useless rumour is the handiwork of my detractors.  They are all enemies of progress.  Why can such a story be coming up after my emergence as the interim national leader of the new association, Theatre and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN)?  Anyway, I am used to that kind of scandalous story.  I have heard more than enough of it.  It’s an inflammatory rumour aimed at bringing me down. But I tell you the truth, that can’t make me lose focus.

“Imagine, having captured 13 states within one week of the establishment of the association, you should know it’s a lot of hard work and serious commitment.  My target now is to extend the association to about 25 states between now and May this year.  All these rubbish they are peddling about me can’t bother me anymore.  At the moment, my pet project is TAMPAN, and I will nurse it to greatness.  It’s already a national association and even the largest in the Nigerian movie industry right now.

“As I speak with you, I am on a TV soap opera set of Daughters of Eve, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.  I will be here for about three weeks.  I don’t have time for rubbish.  Even my wife is used to it.  Let them continue saying their rubbish, that can’t destabilize my marriage because my wife knows how much I love her.  But the best is for the rumour mongers to withdraw from this kind of fruitless act that can’t lead anywhere good but a land of shame.”
