TWO weeks after 14 year-old Miss Kehinde Salami was abducted, molested, raped and physically abused by 35 year-old John Anaga Ukara when her mother sent her to buy vegetable (ugu), from a nearby seller to make dinner, the case has taken different twists and turns.
As at Tuesday, January 21, 2014, the victim’s mother and some well wishers presented their case before the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) and they were immediately assigned a lawyer.
ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered that the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in charge of the case, at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Inspector Akin tried to delay the case from getting to the court of law for reasons best known to him, and that he was also imploring the accused to apologise to the victim and her mother, so the case could be withdrawn.
We further gathered that the accomplice to the crime, Kola has surfaced and is said to be boasting that he cannot be arrested or touched by the police.
On Friday, January 24, 2014, the suspect was charged to the Yaba Magistrate Court and the IPO was instructed to present the accomplice, Kola, while the case was adjourned till February 14, 2014.
In line with that, the suspect was transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos.
