British teenagers are quieter and more responsible than 10 years ago – study

Today’s British teenagers are more likely to be found in their bedrooms surfing the web and/or playing video games, after which they sit down to supper with their parents, a new study claims.

13-year-olds of today are more ‘sober and responsible’ than their mates ten years ago. However, they enjoy fewer friendships, spend less time socializing after school, and are more likely to be at home for a family evening meal.

The research by the British Department for Education, which compared 13-year-olds in 2004 and 2013, suggests the rise of social media sites like Facebook is behind the change.
