Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the nation’s sole government approved collective management organization for musical works and sound recordings in partnership with Nigeria’s leading entertainment television channel, HipTv, has set the ball rolling for the forth coming COSON Week scheduled to take place from November 1 to 7; a series of events that have been described as the world cup of Nigerian entertainment.
Speaking during the week at a working meeting on the COSON Week held at the COSON office in Lagos, COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji, assured supporters and lovers of good entertainment that the right machineries have been put in place to deliver an experience of a lifetime. Said Chief Okoroji, “At COSON, we have assets that no other organization in Nigeria has. Practically every big name in the music industry in Nigeria is a member or affiliate of COSON. We also license the entire broadcast industry in Nigeria for the use of music and sound recordings and we have an agreement with them that gives us access to unparalleled amount of airtime for the promotion of COSON ideas and concepts such as the big events of the COSON Week. We are No. 1 in new media. These, coupled with the great organizational skills and experienced hands at our disposal will tell you that we are ready to thrill Nigerians with entertainment like they have never had it before. From Sunday, November 1 running into the early hours of Sunday, November 8, there will be seven spectacular events to titillate every segment of the Nigerian society: Christians, Muslims and the non-aligned; the ‘fashionistas’, the hip hop generation, the intellectually minded and the man on the street. We have something to thrill the rich and the not so rich, the young and the old. For one whole week, we will bring down the stress level in Nigeria. Oh yes, November 1 to 7 is the week of fun in Nigeria”.
Also speaking, Chief Executive Officer of Smooth Promotions, owners of HipTV, Mr. Ayo Animashaun reaffirmed his support for the success of the COSON Week saying that his team is preparing to ensure that the historic partnership with COSON is a huge success. He said, “Just recently we launched our online streaming platform called Real Time. We are ready to work with COSON in streaming live the events of the COSON Week not only to Nigerians but to our audiences across the globe; this is the advantage that Real Time brings”. Mr. Animashaun praised Chief Okoroji for his legacy of vision, sound management and relentless work which has inspired many younger people in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Present at the meeting were the senior management team of COSON led by the General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji. Also present was a key member of the COSON Board, Mrs. Azeezat Allen.
It will be recalled that the maiden edition of the COSON Week in 2013 left many participants spellbound. Organizers of this year’s event have promised even better delivery of never before seen entertainment in Nigeria.
