Recently, Nigerian artiste, Etcetera in an article for Saturday Punch, wrote how many Nigerian female celebrities marry second hand husbands. He, in the article, made inferences to celebrity couple, Tiwa Savage and Tunji Balogun, who got married in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Saturday, April 27, 2014.

His article read in part: “Some days ago I was at a friend’s place and was asked by his sisters if I was traveling abroad for the wedding of a colleague that is still being talked about on blogs and on all social networking sites in Nigeria and I said no I wasn’t. But what struck me as odd was when one of them asked me ‘Is she getting married to a brand new husband or a second hand husband’?

“…Adding that it is a normal thing in Nigeria that when you can’t afford a brand new car you go for a second hand one. I couldn’t help but laugh at that one.

“Because in the true sense of it, a second hand is a second hand, whether car or husband.

“As my curiosity got the better of me, I asked them for names of female celebrities with second hand husbands. I was shocked beyond recognition that the list they gave me was as long as the distance from Mile 2 to Badagry. According to the list, almost all married female celebrity in Nigeria has a second hand husband and even some of the female celebrities themselves are second hand. And some of the male celebrities also have second hand wives or they themselves are second hand. If you don’t believe me, make a list of your own and be amazed as I am right now.”

The article apparently didn’t go down well with Tiwa and her husband as they took turns to blast the singer for daring to make such uncomplimentary comments about them.

ENCOMIUM Weekly hereby takes a look at some of the female entertainers in the land who have truly married second hand husbands.
