FAMOUS thespian, Yemi Solade has quashed the tale that he has veered into politics, and that he is vying for the Senate ticket on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC). He added that there is nothing like that in his agenda.
He, however, denied any knowledge of the posters in his name and picture, portraying him as a political aspirant under the umbrella of APC.
Speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Friday, October 17, 2014, the Abeokuta, Ogun born role interpreter dissociated himself from the rumoured political ambition as he has nothing to do with Nigerian politics at the moment or in future.
He said, “Let me tell you the truth, I have not veered into politics. I don’t know anything about what you’re asking me. How can I be involved in a mockery? I have nothing to do with Nigerian politics, my brother.”
Asked to shed light on the posters in his name and picture, portraying him as vying for the Senate ticket under the umbrella of APC, he reacted, “Oh! That has been on for long. But to be honest, I don’t know anything about it. Maybe it’s the handiwork of some of my friends who, on their own, think Yemi Solade should join politics. But left to me, I have nothing to do with politics of Nigeria either now or in future. I can’t be involved in dirty things.
“For your information, what’s important in my agenda at the moment is how to take my association, that’s Theatre and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPPAN) to the promised land. Not anything politics can distract me from that. But I think it’s a wishful thinking of whoever is doing that on my behalf.”
