Nigerians comment on 2015 prophecies (2)

Mixed reactions have been trailing prophetic revelations of 2015. While some of ENCOMIUM Weekly’s respondents dismiss the prophets as fakes, others believe in them.

OLULEYE ADEOYE

Sincerely, I have nothing to say than to remain prayerful both for me, my family and Nigeria at large. They are really strong prophecies that I don’t think anyone should joke with.

APOSTLE DAVID JOHNSON

I want to say it without fear or favour that some clerics are businessmen looking for their pocket. In this case, their prophecies are tainted.

DIVINE KANU

I personally don’t believe in prophecies and prophets. God talks to His people, no doubt, but I don’t trust the present crop of prophets. Some are fake.

OYINDA OLADEJI

I think both the president and the first Lady need to be very careful and also in the entertainment industry as well. So many things have gone wrong this time that we need to take extra caution and care. We just need to be prayerful.

LEKAN ADEDOYIN

I believe in prophecies. They work in my life. Prophecies are God’s words about His intentions. What I do is pray about the prophecies.

IROEGBU FRANK

In Biblical days, prophecies were sacred. Once a prophecy is delivered to the person it is meant for, action will follow unless prayer averts it. But these days, we see so called men of God making predictions, not prophecies.

HAPPINESS ODUM

No, I don’t. I believe you create your own luck. I believe how I end up is entirely up to me. Through hard work and determination, you change your life.

ADEOLA ADENIYI

No, I don’t. Prophecies don’t always come to pass. Also, when a favourable prophecy is given to someone, it could make him relent and not work hard.

MR. SAMUEL

No, I don’t believe because they lie a lot, all in the name of God, and use that medium to collect money from people.

MRS. ADEBAYO

Yes, God uses them to speak to us.

FUNKE GABRIEL

I don’t believe all of them. I only pick the positive aspect and pray against anything negative. I don’t think it is right for men of God to broadcast all these negative prophecies all over the place. They can pray against it in their closets except they were instructed to shout it loud. If not, they can go on their knees, pray and God will reward them.

TEMITOPE ABIOLA

I think it is the medium God uses to communicate with mankind. It should not be abused. It is a good thing that men of God broadcast it, but they should do it in such a way that it will not instill fear in the heart of people. I have stopped bothering myself except to believe and pray for the positive aspect.

OMOTOSHO ADEBAYO

I believe many of these pastors are only trying to make a name for themselves. And for those of them that are known, their prophecies hardly come to pass.

TOMIWA BELLO

Some of the prophecies are real while some are fake. Majority of them are prophets of doom.

OLASUBOMI KEHINDE

I believe in prophecies, but the 2015 prophecies seem ridiculous and contradicting.

OLUMUYIWA FABOWALE

Most prophecies can be averted positively or negatively, I pray the good ones concerning individuals and Nigeria would come to pass and the negative ones would not.

TOMILOLA AKINJOBI

I think those prophecies are not real because we are not just hearing them for the first time. It seems they are just rebranding the prophecies.

IKE NWACHUKWU

There are lot of fake pastors and prophets in the country. So, one cannot differentiate the man of God or devil while some are also political propagandists.

OMONIYI SULE

As far as I am concerned, some might be true. Let’s just pray that Nigeria should not divide and there should be no war.

FOLORUNSHO ADEDAYO

They are not prophecies but predictions. People just look at the way things are happening and guess what might happen next.

SOBOWALE DAMILOLA

It is a good thing. They use it to instill fear in people. But some of them use it to get publicity which is why sometimes I find it difficult to believe.

OLORUNTOBI RACHAEL

I don’t believe in prophecies. Churches of today have become business ventures.

ADERANTI IYIOLA

I see prophesy as a guide to mankind if it’s from a true man of God. The truth is that Nigerian prophets don’t always see anything good except to cause panic and increase tension in the land. But no matter how we see it, we can still judge or condemn anyone of them. Let’s leave everything for God to judge.

KAYODE ADISA

I believe in prophesy because there are prophets in the bible sent by God for different times. But it’s difficult to identify a true prophet among all those parading themselves as prophets these days. A lot of them are out for their selfish agenda. So, that alone makes one lose confidence in some of them and even their forecast.
