Nigerians comment on 2015 prophecies

Mixed reactions have been trailing prophetic revelations of 2015. While some of ENCOMIUM Weekly’s respondents dismiss the prophets as fakes, others believe in them.

JENNIFER FAB OBI

When I read a couple of them, I had mixed feelings but I believe some of the prophecies are true and  are just a way of God warning people of some disaster. It’s just a warning to avert calamity.

ESTHER OLABISI

I don’t believe all of them, I only believe in a few. I don’t think it is proper to announce some of those negative prophecies. As men of God, they can pray against it and God will reward them for doing so.

KALU GODSENT

Yes, I believe in new year prophecies. They work in my life and in the lives of people that I know. I think such prophecies are to give us an idea of what God plans to do for that year in the lives of his children.

WEKA JIBRIL

I don’t really believe in prophecies and predictions, because they make it seem like no matter what I do or change, what has been predicted will happen. It is sort of like I don’t have a say in how my life turns out. So, I don’t pay any attention to prophecies.

OLUCHI DIKE

Yes, I believe in prophecies. I believe in the supernatural and I also believe that the spiritual is ahead of the physical, and anything that happens in the physical has already happened in the supernatural realm. So, yes I believe in prophecies.

PRISCILLA IBE

No, not really. I used to believe in prophecies until ministers started taking advantage of people and monetizing it.  Some have even become political sycophants because of it.

MICHAEL MADUAGWU

These prophets have been doing this every year. Let’s look at their past prophecies, how many of them have come true. From this we should be able to judge them. I believe they are just guessing.

KEHINDE OLUWASEGUN

Most of the prophecies are flavoured with political, economic and self-centered considerations of the pastors concerned, although the less popular and relatively unknown pastors give true prophecies.

GABRIEL OLOWU

I believe in prophecies because God does not come from heaven to speak or help you. He uses someone to locate you. So, what I believe is that all prophecies are true.

ADEOYE BAKARE

I see prophecies as what God says but if this God we serve is one, why do we still have different prophecies from men of God? I don’t listen when anyone of them talks up to me. All I know is that God is Trinity, The Father , Son and Holy Spirit. He speaks in one voice.

GBENGA ADEPOJU

God owns this nation and won’t permit any evil to befall it because there have been several prophecies that have not come to pass not that all are not true.

But God has mercy on this nation. Concerning the Chibok girls, I believe they will come back alive but the truth is they may not be useful again due to the pains and trauma.

OLA OJO

I think these prophecies are not true. Since they have been prophesying on this nation, how many came to pass? I think their prophecies are political.

GABRIEL MOMOH

They’re all liars. It’s publicity stunt and for financial gain.

ANUOLUWAPO ADEWALE

I don’t believe in prophecies until they happen. There are many false prophets hiding under religion wanting to always be in the spotlight.

EZEKIEL OGUNDARE

I believe in prophecy because it’s like a guide to mankind. It’s only that we now have a lot of fake prophets parading themselves as men of God. I believe they are all businessmen who are only out to cause panic.

FELIX OBINNA

I don’t believe in any prophecy whatsoever. I believe those prophesying nowadays are only doing so for personal reasons. Only God knows tomorrow. A lot of prophets don’t see anything good about our country again. They are prophets of doom.

NATHANIEL OTOROLEHI

To be frank with you, I don’t think some so called men of God are pure. Some are as polluted as their messages, which definitely don’t come from God.

Yes, God speaks through His men, but not the present crop of Nigerian clerics.

REV. MIKE ANYANELE

I call them modern day prophets of doom and despair because they can’t see anything good but blood and strife. I honestly don’t believe them.

VICTORIA OKEZIE-AGBARA

Not all prophets are of God. So, I don’t believe in them and their prophecies of doom and despair. God will soon speak to His children.

NGOZI UMUNNAKWE

The Bible says “Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm.” That means, God believes in prophesy. So, I believe in prophecies. It is important that Nigerians take the prophetic revelations serious.
