‘The new things I have learnt about my wife’

 -UCHE NNAJI

A lot of your fans were expecting the wedding on a Saturday, how did the choice of a Sunday come about?

We planned a moderate traditional wedding which never materialised, so we were bent on achieving that with the church wedding and picked a day that people would least expect and it worked.

How was the turn out, did it exceed your plan?

The turnout was as we anticipated, very moderate with a few people without invites that we couldn’t turn back.

Have you ever dreamt of a wedding like that, a cool breeze and romantic fairy tale type?

I have always wanted something of that nature and vintage. And we achieved it.

With few online pictures I’ve seen, your wife was all smiles throughout, how are you going to handle her?

God will give me the needed wisdom to be the husband she deserves.

With the few days into your marriage, what different things have you learnt about your wife?

She smiles often now.

With the sermons in church and advise from family what are the lessons you have learnt about marriage?

Patience, compromise, determination to make it work and leaving third party outside.

What are your plans for the honeymoon and where’s the destination?

I want to believe that honeymoon should be continuous as we have already started. Dubai to Seychelles.

What type of family are you planning?

A family as ordained by God

Where did you source your clothes?

My friend and colleague Mai Atafo actually made my wife’s dresses . I see no reason patronising a foreign designer or brand that won’t add any value to our economy, when a Mai Atafo can make lovely bridal of global standard. The groom and his men wore Ouch!

‘How he won my heart’

-ANTHONIA

How will you describe that moment when you and your husband were declared legally married?

Fulfillment.

How did he (Uche) actually win your heart?

I and Uche have actually been friends for over five years (with lots of events and history during those years). For me, it seems like forever. He has just been a part of my life.

What are those ingredients of marriage you have learnt that you think will work for you in the union?

Patience, perseverance, pure friendship, no holds barred, prayers.

What are those things you cherish about your husband?

He’s gentle, suave and hard working. My husband definitely knows what he wants and goes for it.

Briefly, tell us about your background, growing up and education?

I grew up in a Christian family of six with a teacher as my mother. So it was all strict and disciplined. I went to a primary school called Maryland Convent Private School, moved on to Immaculate Heart Comprehensive High School and later Lagos State University. All in Lagos. I have lived all my life in Lagos. I speak the language of the soil very fluently.
