Ayo Adesanya debunks 20 years on stage tale

‘It’s a lie, i just clocked 18’

Delectable Nollywood actress, Ayo Adesanya has debunked the report that she has clocked 20 in the industry and was planning a massive celebration to mark the landmark achievement. In an exclusive chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Friday, February 7, 2014, the beautiful actress claimed she has not reached 20 on stage yet, rather 18.

“Sincerely, I don’t know where they got the story. I have not yet clocked 20 on stage, neither am I planning any huge celebration. I started professionally in 1996 and if you count that, is it up to 20? I don’t know where they got the information but it’s not true.”

It was reported in several magazines and online journals that beautiful actress Ayo Adesanya clocked 20 in the acting industry and as such was planning a big party to mark the celebration.

For her, acting started right from primary school in St. Ann’s, Ibadan, when the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) used to take cameras to her school and tell them to act Shakespeare’s’ plays. She also took part in a lot of drama competitions. But professionally, she started in 1996 after her national youth service.

Briefly after her NYSC, she worked in a company at Agege, Lagos, while she was living in Lekki, Lagos. After a year, she got suspended from the office when she couldn’t meet up with time. Without wasting time, she seized the opportunity to attend an audition at Africa Independent Television (AIT) where she met someone who said he was going for auditioning.

From there, she met Zeb Ejiro and she later left his office for Opa Williams’ office where she was auditioned for Onome. After a few takes in some films, she found herself in Tunji Bamishigbin’s soap, Palace. One thing led to another that she had to mellow down for some time and bounced back. She met herself in the Yoruba movie and she has since been on top of the game.

Ayo Adesanya, an actress who grew with her mom, having lost her dad at the age of 19, studied Communication and Language Art at the University of Ibadan.  She is a single mother, formerly married to famous movie producer, Goriola Hassan.
