Dr. Kent Brantly – the American doctor who was infected with Ebola while working in Liberia – will be discharged from hospital today (August 21) after recovering from the disease.
Franklin Graham of the Samaritan’s Purse – the charity the doctor volunteers for – confirmed the reports. He said, “Today, I join all of our Samaritan’s Purse team around the world in giving thanks to God as we celebrate Dr Kent Brantly’s recovery from Ebola and release from the hospital”.
He and fellow aid worker – Nancy Writebol – had been receiving treatment in an isolation unit at the Emory hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was treated with the experimental drug – ZMapp.
