First Call: FCMB’S OTUNBA SUBOMI BALOGUN STAGES CHRISTMAS CAROL

The founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Otunba (Dr.) Michael Olasubomi Balogun, on Monday, December 23, 2013, played host to the Christian community of his Ijebu-Ode town, Ogun State when he staged a Christmas carol.

Graced by his wife, Olori Abimbola Balogun, the traditional ruler of Ijebu-Ife, Oba Afolorunsho Oguntayo, top Ijebu sons and daughters, clergy and pillars of Christendom in the area, it was organized by Otunba Balogun, who is also the Asiwaju of Ijebu Christians, in conjunction with Christians Association of Nigeria, Ijebu-Ode.

In his closing remarks at the soul-lifting carol, the veteran banker thanked his guests for attending the event. He wished all a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Participating choral groups received prizes for outstanding performances at the carol.

Select guests retired for a lavish dinner with the banking mogul after the carol.

Akin Adeoya has stepped up his game as he organised Award for Excellence at his prestigious Prince of Anthony hotel situated at Anthony Village, Lagos state. The hotel which was officially opened last year has become a haven for dignitaries.

 

COOL FM MARKS 10TH ANNIVERSARY  OF CHRISTMAS PRAISE JAM

In commemoration of its 10th anniversary, Cool FM staged its annual Praise Jam which brought together fun seekers and revelers across Lagos for many years.

Last Christmas characteristically saw merry makers and lovers of gospel music converge under the convivial atmosphere of praise at the Expo Centre of Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos. The show which originally airs on Cool FM as an inspirational and informative programme every Sunday was taken a notch higher at the Christmas rendezvous. The Sunday programme runs from 6 am with DJ Mordu, Freeze and Jibike leading various segments of the show.

But the outdoor rendezvous delivered much more as a galaxy of stars stormed the venue to thrill the staggering audience with famous and evergreen medleys. King of comedy, Ali Baba was the anchor of the show that also brought on stage over 100-member choir of the Daystar Assembly, Lagos. The show featured songsters like Lionel Peterson from South Africa, Buchi, Tim Godfrey, Flo’Rocka, Sammy Okposo, among a host of other great acts. It was a convergence of young persons, families and couples who desired a Christmas to remember. And without gainsaying, it was one event with one of the biggest attendance since the inception of Eko Hotel & Suites. As more and more guests exited, it paved way for guests who sauntered in from both the VIP and regular entries.

Speaking at the event, the Group MD of Cool FM, Amin Moussalli, said that the event is aimed at telling the story of the organization and celebrating the 10th anniversary. Mr. Moussalli promised to bring a star gospel artiste from Europe in the next edition of the jamboree.

 

ADAMU BROTHERS, AKIN ESHO COLLABORATE TO STAGE MADE IN NIGERIA FESTIVAL

The city of Lagos is about to witness one of its kind event tagged, Made in Nigeria Festival. The one week long event slated for September 28 to October 5, 2014, will parade made in Nigeria goods and services targeted at the Nigerian market. There will be exhibition of Nigerian goods and services. Manufacturers, distributors and service providers whose products and services are being consumed by the Nigerian market will be present at the exhibition. Products either made in Nigeria or outside the country but relevant to the Nigerian market will also be on parade.

Apart from showcasing goods and services, the event will also provide a platform for business people to network and interact with buyers.

The Made in Nigeria festival is a brainchild of three patriotic young Nigerians, Ezekiel Adamu (CEO of Balmoral Events), Samson Adamu (Kinetics Sports, organizers of COPA, Lagos) and Akin Esho of the Wedding Expo fame.

Activities at the festival touted as the biggest in recent times will be showcased to a worldwide audience through online and electronic channels such as mobile application, live video streaming, regular updates on the social media.

 

OBAFEMI MARTINS BUYS BMW X6

Football star, Obafemi Martins has taken delivery of a customized BMW X6. Obagoal, as he is fondly called, shipped in the luxury toy from the United States.

And cruising in it around town since it arrived, the former Newcastle FC of England striker was spotted at D’Place by Papas on Christmas day.

 

D’BANJ SHOOTS KOKO LOUNGE 2

While you were away on holidays, the Kokomaster, D’Banj was busy shooting the second edition of Koko Lounge.

The music star returned to the biggest lounge in Nigeria, D’Place by Papas for the shoot. He and his crew were there till 10pm when he left in his Bentley.

On Friday, January 3, 2014, Ooni of Ife, Oba Sijuade was sighted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. On his way to the United States of America, the first class monarch would be back next week. Ooni is on a business trip.

The 2014 edition of Wed Expo will hold in Lagos and Abuja in March and April. The event described as Africa’s largest wedding exhibition brought about by Akin Esho, will bring together hundreds of the finest wedding vendors offering their goods and services to visitors at discounted prices. It was fun unlimited as Peter and Paul Okoye (P-Square), comedians Basketmouth, Julius Agwu and Bovi stormed D’Place by Papas on Saturday, December 28, 2013. Before they left the fun spot, they enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

The celebration continued on Thursday, January 2, 2014, as Sure Boy, MayD, Dammy Krane and friends ushered in the new year with a big party. Some celebs that rocked the gig included Dakova, Sean Tizzle and Gogo Karibi Whyte.
