The former president, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has at last denied being on exile, following wide spread reports that he has made Côte d’Ivoire home after being accused of presiding over the most blatant rape of our treasury.
He told ThisDay yesterday (Monday, May 23, 2016) that he has been resting in Côte d’Ivoire for the last one week, and will return as soon as he was ready.
The president who ruled from 2010 to 2015 listed four reasons he won’t run away from Nigeria (as published by ThisDay) :
- ‘I have made sacrifices for Nigeria… I have done my best for the country.’
- ‘ l am praised all over Africa for averting blood shed …’
- ‘ …for peaceful transition from one government to another’.
- ‘ If l have to die for it, l will do so.’
