Lawyers move to save woman scheduled to die by lethal injection

The attorneys of a 38-year-old woman who is set to die by lethal injection have made frantic efforts to save her after they made an appeal to the US Supreme Court to avert her execution.

Lisa Coleman is scheduled to become the 15th woman to be executed since the apex court restored the death penalty in 1976 today (September 17) in Texas for the starvation and torture killing of a nine-year-old boy.

Coleman and the deceased boy’s mother, Marcella Williams, were charged in 2004 after investigators found the emaciated child weighing just 35lb (16kg).
