New female Viagra drug to boost libido

A new drug to help women boost their libido during transition into menopause is in the works. According to the drug’s maker, Palatin Technologies Inc, they are in the final stage of clinical trials.

The drug, bremelanotide, when tested, showed increase in the level of sexual desire and libido drive in women. More than 1,200 women suffering from hyperactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) were part of the study.

Professor of reproductive biology, Sheryl Kingsberg sad, “The distress component of HSDD reflects the profound negative impact that this condition can have on women’s’ self-image, relationships and quality of life well outside the bedroom. ‘In the Phase 3 trials we saw significant reduction in distress with use of bremelanotide.”

Palatin Technologies Inc, revealed that bremelanotide is made of synthetic peptide analog that mimics a naturally occurring hormone.

The lbido drug was well tolerated with no safety issues. The only side effects observed was constant vomiting, which was not too much. Bremelanotide is more like a libido booster that is only taken during sex, instead of every day use.
