NOLLYWOOD ICON, AMAKA IGWE BEGINS FINAL JOURNEY

+Hubby, Charles Igwe confirms June 13 burial date

The remains of veteran movie producer cum director, Amaka Igwe, will be laid to rest on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Ndiuche Arondizuogu, Imo State.

Her final journey will begin with a tribute evening and service of songs at The Haven Gardens, G.R.A Ikeja, Lagos, on June 9. This would be followed by a service of songs at the Okpara Square, Enugu on June 12, before she is finally buried at Ndiuche Arondizuogu, Imo State where she was married, on June 13.

Confirming this in a phone chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Saturday, May 24, the deceased’s husband,Charles Igwe said the family would continue to mourn her wife whose legacies will live forever.

Amaka Igwe, who is survived by her husband of 21 years, three children (Ruby, David and Daniel) an octogenarian mother and siblings, died from complications from asthma at 51 on April 28, 2014.

And before her untimely demise, Amaka Igwe was the founder and CEO of Amaka Igwe Studios, BOB TV, Top Radio, Excellence in Film and Media Studies and Q Entertainment.

She was also rated the most influential Nollywood film maker whose body of works includes Rattle Snake, Violated, Checkmate, Fuji House of Commotion, among many others.

With many of her colleagues eulogizing her for her contribution to the evolution of Nollywood,Amaka will equally be remembered for the passion and professionalism she brought into her job, even as her remains will be interred on June 13, after other burial rites in her Enugu home state and Lagos where she was based.
