The estranged wife of an American Oil magnate has bagged one of the biggest divorce payouts when she was awarded $975 m (N180.4 bn), her ex-husband’s lawyer has said.
Sue Ann Arnall (58) had earlier said the settlement of nearly $1 bn (N185 bn) in cash and assets was not enough, arguing that it allowed her billionaire ex-husband, Harold Hamm (69) to keep most of a fortune they valued as high as $18 bn (N3.33 tr).
She has now been awarded a cheque of $975 m, after her legal team earlier this week rejected her ex-husband’s handwritten cheque for $974,790,317.77 (N180,336,208,787.45).
