Parents wail as UNILAG rusticate student for twerking with statue

A student of University of Lagos whose video of twerking suggestively with the statue of former Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Tunde Sofoluwe has been rusticated for four semesters.

encomium.ng spoke with parents on their point of view concerning the issue…

MRS AJETUNMOBI

I think that the punishment is unfair. She just danced with the statue, she didn’t dance nude with it. And even if she will be punished, it would have been fair enough if she was asked to repeat.

MES OKANLAWON

That is just right for her. Is that what she’s sent to school for? Why should she dance with a statue and post online?

MR ALATIBA

I have seen the video, but I don’t agree with the punishment. Fine she might have danced with a statue in her school, but the dance was not that bad and the video was short as well. So why give her such a severe punishment. At least a warning would have been better.

MRS OAHINDELE

If I am to look at it, it is fair that she’s being punished but not as harsh as that. It is not as if she’s been doing that, so why didn’t

they just warn her by giving her carry over in her current semester exam? Just so she could learn her lessons instead of rusticating her for four semester. It will ruin her, it will ruin her education.

MR OGUNBAYO

The girl should be grateful she was only suspended not expelled totally because what she did is totally wrong. So she should be thankful.

MRS AJAYI

She deserves the punishment, what she did is not just wrong but also an insult to the school. Anyone who would do such an act should be treated the other way round.

MRS ADENIYI

The decision made to suspend her is right, she has done what she’s not suppose to. Definitely she must face the consequences.

MRS OCHOLI

I actually watched the video, I didn’t see anything wrong with what she did. She was actually twerking for a lifeless statue. Personally giving her 4 semester suspension is not the best but it will however serve as a warning signal to student who are not of good omen.

ONIBALUSI FUNMILAYO

She should be expelled, why is she dancing with the statue in the first place? And even going ahead to post it online.

OKUNADE KEMI

She should be recalled, it is not as if she was dancing nude.

OKAFOR EMEKA

The Institute should please pardon her, biko.

OKEGBENRO JIBOLA

She should not be recalled because she will serve as a good example to the rest of the students. If she was to be recalled, something more notorious will happen again so she shouldn’t be recalled, it serves as a punishment.

ADELEKE FEMI

It is good for her it’s only suspension she wasn’t expelled because her action was wrong. Thank God for her life.

ONIFA BUKOLA

She was sent to study not doing stupid things like that.

OWOBIYI TUNDE

They should please forgive her and recall her.
