THE magical wedding of Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President and Turaki Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been criticized by the Presidency.

In a veiled reference to the classy nuptials attended by Atiku’s political associates including APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Special Assistant to the President on New Media, Reno Omokri accused the opposition politician of not being patriotic enough to have encouraged his son to stage all the wedding ceremonies in Nigeria.

Omokri said in an article entitled, On Nigeria’s Rebased Economy: “The President’s daughter recently got married to her heartthrob and everything about the marriage was done in Nigeria. It is such patriotic actions of Nigerians spending their money in Nigeria that makes Nigeria grow.

Atiku is likely going to challenge President Jonathan in 2015.  A former member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the influential politician has not replied the Presidency since Jonathan’s aide only made reference to some Nigerians who are not patriotic enough to spend their money in their fatherland.
