What songs have you recorded before Boogie Down?

I have released a couple of songs. I have a song called Lie featuring FlowsSick. It enjoyed massive airplay.  I later released another song, Awada Erekere, among others. I also did songs like Bust My Brain, Jara, Nek U Nek. All these songs had amazing review. Along the line, I went on a break which I think was needed. I am back now, with this new video, Boogie Down featuring Wizkid, and it’s released under my new record label, Baseline Music.

Why did you think this is the best time to come back?

First, I believe this is the best time. I believe in my myself and I have a wonderful team who believes in me. So, it’s not a mistake that I am coming out now, and I believe I am moving from here to higher places.

Were you signed to any record label before joining Baseline Music?

No, I was never signed to any label. I have always been an independent artiste working hard to carve a niche for myself in this industry, and somehow, I find myself in the right place. It wasn’t really planned, I just found myself here and I think, I am happy to be here. I am really excited, I am sure they are doing everything possible to give their best.

How does it feel working under veteran like Howie T?

I would say I am very lucky to be working with an influential person like Howie T, and I wish to use this platform to get to the top. I believe with my talent, everything would definitely work out fine. I will maximize the privilege. I am really excited and happy to be in the midst of these people.

What inspired Boogie Down and the choice of Wizkid?

I see Wizkid as a very talented singer. He’s gifted, no doubt about that. So, I felt  I could learn a lot from him. About the inspiration behind the song, one thing about any work of art is that it could be inspired by anything. That day, I visited Wizkid in his house studio, and I was wearing a shimi (underwear) top, I think that’s where the concept came from. That’s why Wizkid said in the lyrics of the song, “I would give you with your shimi on.”

It was produced by Maleek Berry and shot in Lagos by Sesan Ogunro.

We have read a lot about your relationship with Uti. What kind of person is he to you?

Uti is my friend.  I have known him for a couple of years. He’s an amazing person, very dedicated to work. We have been working for years, and we are still working together.

Are you in a relationship with him?

No comment about that (smiles).

How was growing up for you?

I am from a family of five children; I grew up in Festac, Lagos before we relocated to Abuja. I am the middle child and the middle girl. I feel like I am special. Growing was fun. I remember singing from a very early age with my siblings. They even used to call us the Oni Family Singers then. Growing in a loving family was fun and I thank God for my wonderful parents and my great siblings.
