The Poet of Dust Holds at Patabah Bookstore

Umar Abubakar Sidi, author of the Poet of Dust will be hosted by Fairchild at Patabah Bookstore, Shoprite, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, Lagos, this Thursday, 11th April, 2019, by 4PM. The conversation will be about the work of the author, and engagement on publishing poetry in Africa. The event is free.

The Collection of Poems, Poet of Dust evolved from a digital Chapbook, Poet of Sand. Poet of Dust was Published by Konya Shanshrumi in 2017. Konya Shanshrumi curated and managed by the Konya Collective, a group poised to publish the best of contemporary and emerging poets in the continent. It also hopes to use its digital platform; www.shamshrumi.com to harness, showcase and review poetry in Africa, thereby becoming Africa’s biggest poetry portal. Konya Shamshrumi has since published Richard Ali’s The Anguish and Vigilance of Things, and Abubakar Sidi’s Poet of Dust. Umar

Umar Abubakar Sidi is a helicopter pilot with the Nigerian Navy. His works have appeared on Saraba, Brittle Paper, AfricaResource, and others. The Poet of Dust, his debut collection, has been described by Afam Akeh, poet laureate, scholar and winner of the 1988 BBC Arts Prize as a work filled with ”raw energy’ of the author’s ‘prodigious talent, and with poet Adonis as chief guiding spirit on form.’
