Why you should be worried about Ambode and Banire’s battle

Lagosians, indigenes and settlers, should be deeply worried as the battle between the governor of the good people of Lagos, Akinwunmi Ambode, and Muiz Banire, the national legal adviser to All Progressives Congress, escalates.
With a threat to demolish the GRA Ikeja bungalow of ailing Muiz Banire’s 90-year old mother, the misunderstanding has reached a dangerous point.
As both parties justify their positions, keen students of politics are alarmed at the turn of events.
And they list reasons you all should be concerned about the battle between the illustrious Lagosians who have been in the corridors of power for decades as compiled by encomium.ng:

1. They belong to the same political party
Many are worried that Ambode and Banire, both members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, are still at loggerheads following the local government elections in Lagos. The party has allowed the disagreement to fester and degenerate. Whatever conflict resolution method employed has failed.

2. Both are heavy-weights in the party
Akinwunmi Ambode is the party’s symbol in Lagos, while Muiz Banire is its national legal adviser. Though not evenly matched, both are heavy-weights.
And the damage the disagreement will record, if not arrested, will be humongous.

3. They have the same political godfather
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the godfather of the duo in politics. With this same power source, can’t the differences be quickly resolved?

4. They are telling us how bitter politics is
This battle is a reminder that politics in this part of the world is still very bitter and unpalatable.

Now imagine if both are from different parties, are not heavy-weights, and don’t have the same godfather!
