Nigerian music fans have renewed their recurrent debate on just how good, or big the ubertalented singer, Wizkid is. The debate was reignited following the launch of Drake’s new album, ‘Views’.
It emerged that Wizkid didn’t only feature on the album, he co produced one of the tracks, ‘One Dance’ with 40 and nineteen85. This led to rave reviews for the Omo Jaiye Jaiye crooner, as former boss, Banky W took to Instagram to praise his ex protégé. “Called you superstar from day 1, cuz I always knew. Now the whole world does. Too proud of you @wizkidayo Too proud. Win Forever.”
However, some overzealous fans took the love to another level when they tweeted that Wizkid had overtaken the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti as the best and biggest from Nigeria while others compared ‘Baba Nla’ to Tubaba, Dbanj and Asa as the country’s biggest export.

I'm in support of the 'Wizkid is going places' thing, but please let's not mention Fela's name anyhow. Please https://t.co/abyxUQymfb

Wizkid is like a moving train at full speed. One day it may get to the station where 2face and Asa is.

Sorry, Wizkid is not the biggest artist Africa has ever produced. Fela and Youssou N'dour were much bigger.

At this point I'd agree that Wizkid has surpassed D'banj as Nigeria's biggest global star.

Asides Femi Kuti and Asa, Wizkid is Nigeria's biggest star right now. Don't even argue. It is a lost cause
