‘Ogun APC crisis will soon be over’ -Sola Lawal, Publicity Secretary

THE Publicity Secretary, Ogun State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Sola Lawal has said that the leadership tussle between the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and former governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba which has polarized the party for quite long will soon be a thing of the past.

He said this on Sunday, July 13, 2014, while speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on the ongoing reconciliation move by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) to end the crisis.  According to him, there is no cause for any fear as the party’s house will soon be put in order.

“There is no more crisis in Ogun APC, I can assure you of that. People, especially those in the opposition party are the ones blowing things out of proportion.  We’re one family in APC.”

Probed further on the tale that Osoba and his loyalists have perfected plans to move to the newly registered Social Democratic Party (SDP) believed to be dominated by the Afeniferes, he also reacted, “I have told you, there is no crisis in APC.  There was an issue, and that’s being resolved.  Chief Osoba is a party leader, he can’t leave APC.  That’s the truth.”

Meanwhile, ENCOMIUM Weekly learnt that the National Executive Council of the party, presided by Chief John Oyegun, was said to have frowned at the internal crisis rocking some of the APC controlled states, with a clear reference to Ogun, the Gateway State.

ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered that after serious deliberation, the NEC formed a high-power 7-man delegation to look into the crisis, and revert it in two weeks.

According to a reliable source, members of the committee include Atiku Abubakar, Audu Ogbe, Rotimi Amaechi, Babautnde Raji Fashola and three others.

“The committee which is expected to convince Osoba and his loyalists to have a rethink on ditching the party will be putting forward a proposal of 60 per cent to 40 per cent executive members in the state while the aggrieved National Assembly members (Osoba’s loyalists) will be guaranteed their return tickets,” the source added.
