Cassys Signature’s Wuraola Balogun reveals how she is making money from her passion

Cassy’s Signature, which stocks clothings and accessories is set to celebrate her one year of services to it’s numerous clients. The company wants to celebrate this anniversary by giving customers discount throughout August plus a special Saturday free meal at their office on Emina Crescent, off Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos.

The creative force behind the enterprise that also specializes in interior décor and furniture, Wuraola Balogun disclosed to ENCOMIUM Weekly that the company was registered in 2008 as a mobile retail fashion shop and today has grown to a big outlet while branches are to be opened in Abuja, Port Harcourt, later this year.

You are into boutique business plus interior décor and furnishing, which of these did you start first?

I started with interior décor and furnishing. We make furniture and also supplies. We do interior décor, we decorate offices at affordable charges.

What informed the name, Cassys Signature?

Cassys actually came from my name, Cassandra and the signature was because I had this vision of actually creating my own signature.

What inspired this kind of business?

Though I am a simple person but I have always had the flair for fashion. I love dressing people and I have passion for it. I could always put things together.

It is something I have always wanted to do and decorating for friends for free but it was a friend that told me that I could actually make some money from it instead of doing it for free and that was how it all started. I decided to make it affordable because a lot of people want exclusive services but cannot afford the prices out there.

In a country where entrepreneurs find it difficult to survive, what is the magic you employ to stay afloat?

God first, it has been the grace of God. I have tried to know my customers, know the kind of people you want to service and what they actually want. I provide durable, unique and affordable clothing and services for different kinds of personalities.

My products come from quality designers. I buy my products from UK, US and Turkey and I don’t sell at outrageous rate

How lucrative is this business, has it been paying your bills?

Yes, it has, once you are unique and know what you are doing, you will hit it big, but our idea is to satisfy our clients across various budget range.

What were the challenges in building the brand?

There are financial, human and environmental challenges when you start up a business but I thank God we are able to cope with all of these challenges.

What target have you set for your brand in years to come?

We are working on our own label, opening more branches across the country. So, we are working on the locations. We hope to get our label soon and have Cassys Signature in all the mega cities in the country.
